Teams quiet hours on iPhone.

Teams on your phone can go silent on a schedule. Microsoft calls it quiet hours. It only exists in the mobile app, and it’s easy to miss. Here’s the setup, plus the gaps it leaves.

The short answer

In the Teams app, tap your profile picture, then Notifications, then Block notifications. Turn on Block during quiet hours, set your daily hours and any quiet days. Teams stops sounds and push notifications during that time. The app still opens, though.

Set up quiet hours

  1. Open Teams and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Notifications, then Block notifications.
  3. Turn on Block during quiet hours. Older versions call it During quiet time.
  4. Turn on Certain hours and set a start and end, like 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
  5. For weekends, turn on All day and pick Saturday and Sunday.

Teams may offer to set the same quiet hours on Teams and Outlook. Read that prompt before you tap: Microsoft notes the change can’t be undone.

In the same menu, When active on other devices keeps your phone quiet while you’re using Teams on your computer. Useful during the day.

What quiet hours don’t do

  • They’re mobile only. Teams on desktop has no quiet hours. There, set your status to Do Not Disturb.
  • Nobody else is told. Quiet hours don’t change your status, so colleagues won’t know you’re away. If you want them to, set a status message before you log off.
  • They follow your phone’s clock. Quiet hours use your device’s time, so they move with you when you travel.
  • The app still opens. Quiet hours stop the sound and the banners. Everything new is waiting the moment you open Teams.

Keep Teams closed after work

The last one is the gap that matters. If opening Teams is a reflex, silence doesn’t help. You can block it with Screen Time (compared in how to block work apps after hours on iPhone), or with Out of Office:

  1. Pick Teams, plus Outlook and anything else from work, in Apple’s app picker.
  2. Choose Every evening, Weekends, or your own days and times.
  3. After hours, Teams opens to a shield instead. Tap “OK, fine” and get on with your evening.
What it missesOut of Office works on iPhone and iPad, not on your Mac or PC. Flip the switch off if you truly need Teams; turn on Strict mode if you’d rather not be able to during a scheduled session.

Questions

Does Teams have quiet hours on desktop?

No. Quiet hours are only in the Teams mobile app. On desktop, set your status to Do Not Disturb instead.

Do people know when I have quiet hours on?

No. Quiet hours only change notifications on your phone. Your status stays the same, so set a status message if you want colleagues to know.

Will I miss messages during quiet hours?

No. Messages and activity arrive as normal; you just don’t get a sound or a banner. They’re all there when you open Teams.

Can I block the Teams app itself after hours?

Yes. Screen Time can do it with Downtime or an App Limit, or Out of Office can shield Teams, and only your work apps, during the hours you set.
