The short version
Out of Office is licensed to you under Apple’s standard licence, plus the terms below. Paid plans are billed by Apple, and subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your Apple Account settings. The app is a tool to help you switch off. You stay in charge of your phone and your job.
Agreeing to these terms
By downloading or using Out of Office, you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard EULA). These terms add to the EULA. Where they differ, these terms apply, as far as the EULA allows. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What the app does
Out of Office shields the work apps you pick, on a schedule or when you flip the switch, using Apple’s Screen Time framework. It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. The Mac app is a companion for status and schedules. It doesn’t block Mac apps.
Screen Time is part of iOS, and Apple controls how it works. A system update, a device setting or a change on Apple’s side can affect when and how shields appear. We work to keep up, but we can’t promise the app will block every app, every time.
Purchases and subscriptions
Some features need Out of Office Pro, sold in the app as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and can vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same length and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in SettingsYour nameSubscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- A lifetime purchase is a single payment with no renewals.
- If you change devices or reinstall, tap Restore purchases on the upgrade screen.
Apple handles billing and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If we change our prices, the change won’t affect a subscription period you’ve already paid for.
Using it sensibly
Out of Office helps you keep work apps closed when work is over. It doesn’t change your job, your contract or anyone’s expectations of you. You’re responsible for the hours you set and for staying reachable when you need to be.
- Don’t shield an app you might need in an emergency.
- With Strict mode on, a scheduled session can’t be ended early. Only turn it on if you’re sure.
- Use the app only on devices you own or are allowed to manage, and only within the law and Apple’s rules.
What’s ours
The app, its design, its name and this website belong to us, and the EULA gives you a licence to use the app, not ownership of it. Please don’t copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Gmail and other names mentioned here are trademarks of their owners. Out of Office isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them, or by Apple.
No warranty
We work hard on Out of Office, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or right for your situation.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using or not being able to use the app. That includes a missed message, a missed meeting or lost work. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms as the app changes. When we do, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using the app after that, you’re agreeing to the new terms. You can stop at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription.
